Tinnitus in the head instead of the ears

Who else experiences the ringing strictly in their head rather than their ears?

I experience both, so that’s not the case for me.

I’m not entirely sure… it doesn’t feel like it’s coming from my ears. When I push on my head just above my ears, the sound gets louder and higher.

That’s me. I’m pretty sure I’ve had it my whole life. Even as a child, I don’t remember ‘silence,’ just a faint sound like TV static.

It feels like it’s in my ears and my head. Sometimes it’s like it’s right in the center of my skull. Great, surround sound tinnitus.

Mine is definitely centered in my head.

I notice it on the left side of my head; it’s like an electric current I can hear and feel, almost like a tickle inside. But I hear it in my left ear too.

It’s both for me, and it tends to migrate—from the side of my head to the back or the top, plus the ears.

It started in both, but now it’s just in my head on the right side. I still get it in my ear sometimes, but it eventually stops.

As I’ve noted before, tinnitus is a brain-based issue. It’s created in the brain even if it stems from ear damage. The auditory cortex is what generates the sound we hear. So it’s fundamentally in your head, though it can be felt in the ears. It can even move around. I get it in the center of my head sometimes, or just the left ear, or both.
