I spent nearly two years hiding my feet. I’d wear socks even in the middle of summer because the yellowing and the crumbly texture of my big toes were so embarrassing. I tried almost everything—expensive medicated polishes, soaking my feet in vinegar every night, and those generic pharmacy creams that promise the world but just leave your skin feeling dry and irritated.
What I tried before
The main issue with the store-bought creams was that they only seemed to treat the surface. As soon as I stopped using them for a few days, the redness and the scaling would return. My skin felt weak, like it had no natural resistance left to fight off anything. I even tried those harsh bleach soaks, which I now realize just damaged my nail beds further.
What I changed
A friend who does marathon running suggested looking into something that combines oils with vitamins for skin repair. I started using ProNail Complex (ordered here) because it looked like it focused on both the nail and the surrounding skin. Unlike the harsh chemical treatments I used previously, this felt like it was actually nourishing the area rather than just stripping it.
Week-by-week progress
- Weeks 1-3: Not much change in the nail itself, but the skin around my toes stopped peeling and felt much more hydrated. The constant itching from athlete’s foot finally subsided.
- Month 2: I noticed the new growth at the base of the nail was looking pinker and smoother. The thickness started to decrease slightly.
- Month 4: The crumbly parts were almost grown out. I could actually trim my nails without them shattering into dust.
What improved
I can finally wear sandals again without feeling self-conscious. ProNail Complex really helped with the overall resilience of my feet. They don’t feel as vulnerable to every little irritation anymore, and the skin looks healthy instead of that weird waxy white color.
What didn’t (Caveats)
It is not a magic wand. You have to be consistent—missing a few days definitely slows things down. Also, ProNail Complex has a very distinct herbal scent which might not be for everyone. It’s also a bit pricier than the basic stuff, but for me, the results justified the cost.

I had a similar experience with those pharmacy creams. They are so drying. I switched to ProNail Complex about three months ago and the difference in my nail texture is night and day. It actually feels like it’s healing the skin too.

How many times a day were you applying it? I always struggle to keep up with a routine when it involves oils because of the mess.

The vinegar soaks were the worst for me. My skin would just crack and bleed. I’m glad you found something that works, but 4 months is a long time to wait for results!
Consistency is definitely the hardest part. I find putting it on right after the shower helps it soak in better.

Thanks for the honest review. Most people act like things work in a week, which is never true for nails because they grow so slowly.
Is the scent like tea tree oil? I don’t mind that, but some of those ‘natural’ blends can be really overwhelming.

I’m currently in ‘Month 1’ of trying to fix my feet after a bad gym shower experience. The peeling skin is the most annoying part. Might have to look into this oil approach.

Does it leave a greasy residue on your socks? That’s always my concern with oil-based treatments.

Great breakdown. I think people underestimate how much the skin health matters for keeping the fungus away.

I’ve been using a similar oil-vitamin combo for a while. It really is about that long-term resistance. If the skin is healthy, the fungus has a harder time taking root.

I tried the laser treatments first and they did nothing for the price. ProNail Complex was much more effective for my thick, yellow nails and it didn’t hurt my wallet as much.

Where did you buy it? I see so many different things online and don’t want to get a knock-off.

I’ll vouch for this too. ProNail Complex really helped clear up the persistent athlete’s foot I had between my toes. The skin repair vitamins in it are legit.

Just a tip for anyone starting: make sure you file down the thick parts of the nail a bit so the oils can actually get in there. It makes a big difference.

Glad you’re seeing progress! It’s such a confidence killer when your feet look bad. Stick with it!
