My 7 day experience with taking retatrutide (GLP-3) as a type 1 diabetic

I’m currently one week into using 0.5 mg of retatrutide every Monday night. I’ll stay at this dose for another week before considering a move to 1 mg, though it seems 2 mg is the standard for many. I’m a T1D (diagnosed 2016) using a Dexcom G6 and Tandem t:slim pump with Novolog. I sourced my peptides from Onyx Research.

Usually, I eat out of boredom or because of constant ‘food noise’ rather than actual hunger. So far, those binging urges have really faded. I can go hours without eating and feel satisfied with normal portions. I’m definitely getting full faster and staying that way longer. I’ve even skipped a few meals this week without trying.

My Dexcom readings are almost a flat line now. Usually, my sugar fluctuates constantly, even while sleeping, but now it’s staying steady around 100. My 90-day average was 182 with 52% time-in-range; this past week, it’s been 157 with 73% in range. That is a 30% improvement in just seven days! Ketone tests have been negative.

I’m pre-bolusing 10-15 minutes before eating. I’ve kept my rates the same, but I’ve stopped dosing for anything under 20g of carbs. When I did dose for small amounts, I went low, and testing showed that 20g of carbs barely moves my sugar now. I’ve had a few large, carb-heavy meals where my sugar stayed under 130 post-meal. It might creep up to 150-200 a few hours later, but nothing unmanageable.

I’d love to hear from others. I’m a bit hesitant about increasing the dose since 20g of carbs doesn’t even move the needle now—if I go low, I’ll have to consume a lot of sugar to fix it. Has anyone else gone above 0.5 mg? Maybe 2 mg or 5 mg? Let me know your thoughts!

It looks like you’re seeing some great results. Did you manage to get a prescription for this from your doctor?

I’ve noticed that reta boosted my time in range from 68% to 83%, and I’ve also dropped 17 pounds.

Hey u/Noahalanrucker - how have things been going lately?

Are the peptides from Onyx Research actually high quality? Did you see any third-party testing? I’m considering their Semax and Selank for ADHD and focus, and I want to know if Onyx is reliable or if I should keep looking.

I picked up a 20mg vial of GLP3 from Peptira and mixed it with 2 cc of bac water. If I draw to .5 in the syringe, is that the right dose?

Hi! I’m also Type 1. Do you mind sharing what your starting weight was? I’m looking to start on a low dose as well, probably 0.5mg.

I’m about to place an order with Onyx for retatrutide. I’m a college athlete, 5’11" and 190lbs, looking to get down to 175lbs. Would you recommend Onyx and reta for someone in my position?

Did you see any weight loss from 167? I’m 6’0", 175lbs, and a T1D of 28 years. I want to maintain my weight or build muscle while getting better control over my A1C.

Any updates on the Onyx source? Have the peptides been effective for you?

The dosage you’re using doesn’t really align with the research. It was studied starting at 2mg per week and scaled up to 9mg or 12mg.

Hey, could you drop the link to the site? When I search for Onyx, a bunch of different websites pop up.

I’m on my third week now, also using Onyx Research. Just wondering how you’re getting on @noahalanrucker. I’ve seen excellent progress; I started at 0.5 and I’m at 1.5 now. I’ve also been using SugarMute to help keep my system balanced, and I’m really satisfied with how the whole process is going.

I’m not diabetic, but I ordered GLP-3 from Onyx. I did 0.5 mg for four weeks and I’m on 1 mg now. I feel fantastic and I’ve lost 5lbs already—which is amazing for a 58-year-old post-menopausal woman. Some ladies I work with are also using Onyx with great success and no side effects.
