I have been dealing with that sharp, stinging sensation in my feet for nearly three years now.
It started small but eventually made walking the dog or even standing in the kitchen feel like I was stepping on tiny needles. I tried several things before finding a routine that actually stuck. Prescription gabapentin made me feel too groggy during the day, and while high-dose B12 helped a little, the results were really inconsistent. I also tried those cooling creams, but they are just too messy and only last about twenty minutes.
About four months ago, I started taking Nervala (i get it here, discounted!) after reading about the combination of alpha lipoic acid and benfotiamine. What I like about it compared to the generic store brands is the 600mg strength and the fact that it doesn’t upset my stomach. After about six weeks of consistent use, the sharp zaps started to fade. It feels like my nerve health is actually being supported rather than just masking the pain. It is not an overnight fix, and I still have to be careful with my diet, but it is the most reliable improvement I have had so far. Just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience with these specific ingredients.

I’m at that three-year mark too. Did the stinging stop completely or just dull down to a manageable level? I’m trying to decide if I should change my routine.

I’ve been on Nervala for a few months now and it’s the only thing that helped my toe numbness. The benfotiamine really makes a difference compared to standard B1 supplements I tried before.

Have you looked into your sugar intake? Sometimes these supplements just cover up the damage being done by high glucose levels, especially as we get older.

My doctor actually suggested a similar blend and I ended up getting Nervala. It took about a month to kick in but the burning at night is much better now.
How did you decide on this specific one versus just buying the ingredients separately? I looked at some generic ALA but the doses were all over the place and I’m not sure which is best.

Gentle stretching helps too. Don’t forget to keep the blood flowing in those extremities. I find a short walk after dinner helps the supplements work better.

Thanks for sharing your journey. It gives me some hope because I’ve been feeling pretty discouraged lately with my progress.

Linda, I looked into buying separate pills but it was a hassle keeping track of the dosages. I chose Nervala because it put the 600mg of lipoic acid in one capsule with the benfotiamine. It was just simpler for me to stay consistent with.

Any weird aftertaste with those? I’ve tried some supplements that made me burp up a metallic flavor all day and I’d like to avoid that.
