Dealing with chronic lower back and hip discomfort: My three-month progress log

I’ve been dealing with that deep, nagging ache in my lower back and right hip for about six years now. It started as a typical sign of getting older, but eventually, it made getting out of the car or even sleeping on my side a real chore. I tried the usual stuff—over-the-counter pills that eventually messed with my stomach, and those supermarket heating gels that just made me smell like a locker room.

About four months ago, I decided to try a different approach after reading about how certain compounds like MSM and frankincense work on inflammatory triggers. I started using a topical balm called Balmorex (i buy here) twice a day, specifically focusing on the areas where I felt the most stiffness.

The first two weeks were subtle. I didn’t feel a miracle overnight, but I noticed I wasn’t reaching for the ibuprofen as often in the afternoons. By the second month, the stiffness in my hip during my morning walk started to fade. I could actually do a full mile without needing to sit on a bench to stretch out.

What I like about Balmorex is that it isn’t greasy and it sinks in fast. It doesn’t have that overwhelming medicinal scent. However, it’s not a magic wand. I had a bit of a setback in week six after doing too much yard work, and it took a few days of extra rest and consistent application to get back on track.

If you’re looking for an instant cure, this isn’t it. It requires consistency. But for the steady, cumulative relief of those deep-seated nerve pressures and joint grinding, Balmorex has been a solid addition to my routine. It is a bit pricier than the generic drugstore creams, but for me, being able to sleep through the night without that throbbing hip is worth the extra cost.

I’ve been using Balmorex for my knees for about two months now and the swelling has definitely gone down. It’s one of the few things that actually absorbs into the skin properly.

Does it have a strong scent? My husband is very sensitive to smells and I can’t use anything that smells like menthol in the house.

Have you tried adding some light water aerobics to your routine too? I found that topical treatments work better when I keep the joints moving in the pool.

I’m always a bit skeptical of these ‘27-in-1’ formulas. Sometimes it feels like they just throw everything at the wall to see what sticks. Glad it worked for you though.

To the person asking about the scent—it’s very mild. It has a slight herbal ginger smell but it fades within ten minutes. Not like those sports creams at all.

How long does one jar last you? I’m on a fixed income so I have to budget these things out.

Balmorex really helped with my sciatica flare-ups last winter. I apply it right to the lower spine area and it seems to calm the nerves down so I can actually sit through a movie.

I’m 64 and the hip pain is the absolute worst in the morning. I might give this a shot because I’m tired of taking Tylenol every single day.

The Indian Frankincense is the key ingredient there. It’s been used for centuries for inflammation. Nice to see it in a modern balm.

My physical therapist actually suggested Balmorex for my neck stiffness after a car accident. It’s been great for keeping the muscles relaxed between our sessions.

Do you apply it before or after you do your morning stretches? I’m wondering if it helps to warm up the tissue first.

I’ve found that using a heating pad for 10 minutes after applying any balm really helps it penetrate deeper. Just a tip for those with deep muscle issues.

I usually apply it right after a warm shower when the skin is still a bit damp. One jar lasts me about a month if I’m only using it on my lower back.

MSM is definitely the way to go. I used to take it in capsules but it gave me weird dreams. Topical is much better for me.

Thanks for sharing the detailed timeline. It’s helpful to know it takes a few weeks to really feel the difference. Most people give up after three days.
