I hit 45 last year and noticed that even with my electric toothbrush and religious flossing, my mouth just didn’t feel as clean as it used to. I would wake up with a strange taste, and my gums often felt slightly tender after my morning coffee. My dentist mentioned that as we age, the bacterial balance in our mouth changes, making us more prone to irritation. Instead of just scrubbing harder, I started looking into ways to support the oral microbiome naturally.

I switched to a gentler routine and started using ProvaDent ([i order from here](https://hop.clickbank.net/?vendor=provadent&pid=1&affiliate=indigo7177&tid=forum1)) to support the beneficial bacteria in my mouth. It contains xylitol and probiotics, which felt like a more logical approach than using harsh alcohol-based mouthwashes that kill everything off. After about a month, I noticed my teeth felt much smoother throughout the day, and that persistent morning film was significantly reduced. It is a small change, but it made a massive difference in how my gums feel. Sometimes we focus so much on mechanical cleaning that we forget the biological side of oral health.

I’ve noticed the same thing since turning 50. Brushing twice a day just doesn’t feel like enough anymore. I think the mouth environment definitely shifts as we get older.

What do you mean by the teeth feeling ‘smoother’? Is it like that feeling right after a professional cleaning at the dentist?

I actually started using ProvaDent a few months back for the same reason. It really helped with my gum sensitivity and that dry mouth feeling I used to get at night. It’s been a game changer for my routine.

I swear by my water flosser. It gets into the pockets that a normal brush just can’t reach, especially around the back molars where I always used to have issues.

Glad to hear you found something that works. It’s so frustrating when you’re doing all the ‘right’ things and still having issues with tenderness.

Adding my vote for ProvaDent here too. The probiotics made a noticeable difference for me within the first few weeks of trying it out. My last checkup was actually the easiest one I’ve had in years.

Oral health is so tied to heart health as we get older. It’s worth the extra effort to keep the biome in check. Thanks for sharing your story and what worked for you.

Good point about the coffee. I started rinsing with water immediately after my morning cup and it really helped reduce the staining and acid wear I was seeing.
