If you’re a heavy coffee or tea drinker like me, you probably notice that “fuzzy” feeling or yellowing sooner than you’d like. It’s a constant battle once we hit our forties. Here is the routine I’ve found that actually works to keep things fresh.

First, never brush immediately after finishing your cup. The acidity softens your enamel, so wait thirty minutes. Instead, swish with plain water right away to neutralize the acids. Second, upgrade your flossing game. I switched to a water flosser once a day, and it gets into those tight spaces that manual floss misses.

Finally, focus on your oral biome. I started using ProvaDent ([i order from here](https://hop.clickbank.net/?vendor=provadent&pid=1&affiliate=indigo7177&tid=forum1)) recently to help balance the bacteria in my mouth, and it’s made a huge difference in how clean my teeth feel throughout the afternoon. It uses probiotics and xylitol which really helps with that midday film. Just follow these steps daily, and you’ll notice your dental hygienist has a much easier time at your next cleaning.

I can vouch for ProvaDent too. My gums used to be quite tender, but after two months of using it, the sensitivity has gone down significantly. It’s a solid addition to the routine.

The water flosser was a game changer for me. Do you use it before or after brushing? I’ve heard conflicting advice on that.

I also find that using a straw for iced coffee helps keep the liquid away from the front teeth. It looks a bit silly at my age but it works for preventing stains!

I’ve tried the water rinse thing but I always forget. I need to leave a note on my favorite mug or something. My enamel is definitely showing its age.

Glad you mentioned the biome aspect. ProvaDent really helped with my morning breath issues. It feels like it actually addresses the root cause rather than just masking it with mint.

Great advice on waiting 30 minutes to brush. I used to brush right after my espresso and my dentist told me I was literally scrubbing my enamel away while it was soft.
